First Night 2006 - First Night is Whistler’s alcohol-free New Year’s Eve Celebration of arts and entertainment. It all takes place outside at the Town Plaza Gazebo with street performers, fire dancers, comedians, a people’s procession and live music. There’s lantern making, face painting, body painting, psychic tents, and more. A safe and worthwhile event for the whole family.

4-Sep3 Whistler Theatre Project - Shakespeare in Whistler? Absolutely. Whistler is proud to welcome its first professional theatre group performing "A Midsummer Night's Dream" right here in the mountains.
5-6 Canadian National Barbeque Championships - There is nothing better than a yummy BBQ in Whistler! Whistler will host the Annual Canadian BBQ Championships. Expect to see as many as 50 teams bbq-ing, cooking, socializing and celebrating for two solid days. 
10-13 Whistler Music and Arts Festival - The Whistler Music & Arts Festival features four jam-packed days of fun with amusing street entertainers, live music and interactive art activities for the whole family.

3-5 24 Hours of Adrenalin - 24 Hours of Adrenalin is fueling the 24-hour mountain biking craze that is sweeping North America. Categories are designed to accommodate all levels of riders, with up to 10 people on a team, so you, too, can experience the 'rush' of 24-hour racing. Whistler is privileged to host such a worldwide and exciting event that brings hundreds of spectators.
4 Labour Day
9-10 Sea 2 Summit Race - The 10th running of one of North America's most scenic and accessible adventure races. Sea2summit returns to the classic route from Cates Park in North Vancouver. A mass paddling start on the waters of Indian Arm leads to trekking and biking through the Indian River Valley and Mamquam River Valley to Squamish to end day one. Day two is the epic journey through Sea-to-Sky Country, ultimately finishing in Whistler.
14-17 Writers Retreat and Festival - Hosted by the Whistler Writers Group, the 5th annual Writers Retreat and Festival features readings by published authors, seminars on screen writing, writing for children and re-writing, among others. Plus, participants will get the chance to pitch their work to various BC book publishers attending the festival. For more information call 604.894.1970.
16-17 Samurai of Single Track
23 Cheakamus Challenge - This is the Granddaddy of all mountain bike races that began almost 25 years ago. The course covers over 72 km and features over 2000 vertical metres of climbing. The race starts at 10 AM and ends in Whistler. Following the race is the Awards Party at the Brewhouse The race is limited to 800 riders so get your entry in early at www.cheakamuschallenge.ca.
